India's central government will release the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) on 30 October 2026, crediting Rs 2,000 directly to the bank accounts of eligible farmers. The date was announced on the scheme's official X account, @pmkisanofficial, which urged farmers to "mark your calendar".

The payment arrives during rabi sowing and the festive season, when many farm families face higher costs. It had been expected around Durga Puja but will now reach farmers before Diwali.

Under PM-KISAN, eligible landholding farmer families receive Rs 6,000 a year by direct benefit transfer, paid in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 every four months. The 23rd instalment was released on 20 June 2026, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred more than Rs 18,880 crore to over 9.44 crore farmers from Tarakeswar in West Bengal.

To receive the money, farmers must have completed e-KYC, which can be done by OTP on the PM-KISAN portal, by face authentication on the mobile app or at a Common Service Centre. Their bank account must be linked to Aadhaar and active for direct transfers, land-record verification on the portal must be complete, and the name in Aadhaar must match the PM-KISAN registration, or the payment may be held up.

Farmers can check their status at pmkisan.gov.in under "Know Your Status", and the "Beneficiary List" shows whether a name is included. The PM-KISAN mobile app and the Kisan e-Mitra chatbot also answer questions about the scheme.

PM-KISAN was launched in February 2019 and is counted among the world's largest direct benefit transfer schemes. More than Rs 4.46 lakh crore has been paid to farmers so far, and the government has approved its continuation until 2030-31 with an outlay of Rs 3.15 lakh crore.
