1What this policy covers
This privacy policy applies to the two websites of The Agro News — theagronews.com and agronewstoday.com — and to our email newsletter. Both sites are operated by Fish Expert Limited. It explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.
2What we collect
If you only read the news, we ask you for no personal information. We collect only what you give us and what running the site requires:
- Comments: when you comment, we keep the name you give, your comment, and your IP address to prevent abuse and spam. Our moderators check comments before they are published; a published comment shows only the name and the text.
- Newsletter: when you sign up, we keep your name and email address.
- Email: when you write to one of our desks, we keep your email address and your message.
- Reads: when a story is read, we only count that it was read once — not who read it. The “most read” lists are built from these counts.
- Server logs: like every website, our servers automatically log the IP address, browser type and time of each request. These are used for security and fixing faults, and are deleted regularly.
3Location (“my area”)
Your browser asks for your location only when you tap “my area” on the weather or price blocks — never when a page opens. If you allow it, your phone or computer works out which district is nearest, and only that district’s weather and prices are fetched. Your position is not sent to or stored on our servers.
Only the fact that you said yes is remembered, in your browser’s local storage on your device, so you are not asked again. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your browser settings.
5Other companies’ services
- YouTube: videos play in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie.com) player; once you play a video, YouTube’s own policy applies.
- Share buttons: the Facebook, X, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Pinterest share buttons are plain links — those companies learn nothing until you tap one. When you do, that platform’s policy applies.
- Social media: what you do on our Facebook, YouTube, X, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest pages is governed by those platforms’ policies.
- Hosting: both sites run on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers.
6How we use information
- To publish and moderate comments, and to prevent spam and abuse.
- To send the newsletter.
- To answer your emails and check the stories or corrections you send.
- To keep the sites secure and running.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not give it to anyone else unless the law requires it.
7How long we keep it
- Comments: for as long as they are published; rejected or spam comments as long as moderation needs them.
- Newsletter: for as long as you stay subscribed.
- Server logs: for a short time, after which they are deleted automatically.
8Your rights and choices
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your comments or your newsletter details.
- To leave the newsletter, reply to any issue and say so.
- You control location permission and cookies in your browser settings.
Send any request to news@theagronews.com with “Privacy” in the subject line.
9Children
Our sites are for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we hold a child’s information, tell us and we will delete it.
10Security
Both sites run over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your information is seen only by the staff who need it for the task in hand. No system on the internet, however, is completely secure.
11Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page and the “last updated” date above will change.
