From the pictures Prothom Alo's photographers took across Bangladesh on 23 October, these are the ones of fields, markets, livestock and the environment, described in our own words.
At a village market in Betchhari, Naniarchar, Rangamati, farmers have laid out their jhum (hill-slope) crops and buyers crowd round for fresh vegetables (photo: Supriya Chakma). In Subdia field, Chuadanga, farmers are tending winter vegetable plots (photo: Shah Alam).
In Chhoyghoria, Batiaghata, Khulna, a woman leads her cow out to graze (photo: Saddam Hossain). At Boldipukur in Mithapukur, Rangpur, a wholesaler piles up brinjal bought from farmers, ready to send to Dhaka (photo: Moinul Islam).
Early winter vegetables have reached Pabna's Boro Bazar, where cauliflower sells for Tk 70 to 80 a kilo (photo: Hasan Mahmud).
On the service road of the Dhaka-Mawa highway at Ikuria, South Keraniganj, rubbish heaps set on fire are sending up smoke, polluting the air and making the road hard to use (photo: Dipu Malakar).
The day's other pictures, of children playing hadudu, an idol being made, a road blockade, passengers waiting at the airport and lungi yarn drying, are not included here.
