Bangladesh in pictures, 22 October: beans for market, water lilies and a sunbird

Prothom Alo's photographers on 22 October caught late-autumn fields, markets and nature: Pabna's beans, Bogura's irrigation and coconut market, Khulna's pumpkins and betel nut, Rangpur's fishers, water lilies and mongooses, Rangamati's butterflies and birds.

Much of what Prothom Alo's photographers captured around the country on 22 October was late-autumn fields, markets and nature. Here, in our own words, are the farming, fishing and nature pictures from the day's 'Glimpse' round.

At Mujib Bandh in Pabna, beans picked from the fields are packed into sacks for the wholesale market, from where they go to districts across the country; at Dapunia a sunbird drinks nectar from a bean flower (photos: Hasan Mahmud). In Jora village, Shajahanpur, Bogura, farmers Sohel Rana and Delwar Hossain irrigate Aman paddy with a swing basket, and at Ranir Haat a truckload of green coconuts from Bhola is unloaded for wholesale (photos: Soyel Rana).

In Dumuria, Khulna, a farmer stacks sweet pumpkins for sale at the wholesale market, and at the Dumuria raw produce market a vendor sits with green betel nuts from his own garden (photos: Saddam Hossain).

In Gangachara, Rangpur, fishers set out for a distant beel; at Girarpar white water lilies bloom on a pond in the autumn sun, and at Panapukur a pair of small Indian mongooses crosses an empty road (photos: Moinul Islam).

At Mitingachhari in Rangamati a pair of butterflies feeds on ixora flowers, and in Mountaineering Valley black-hooded orioles rest on a branch (photos: Supriyo Chakma). Near Tomchom Bridge in Cumilla a bright red button ginger flowers among green leaves (photo: Abdur Rahman), and at dusk on 21 October the Joysagar Dighi at Raiganj, Sirajganj, mirrored the sky (photo: Sajedul Alam).

The day's pictures of a hospital strike, rail repairs, roads, a rally, textbooks, a workshop, children at play and a religious festival are not included here.
