Absolute, an Indian AI-native biosolutions company, has begun commercial operations in Kenya for INERA, its agricultural biologicals arm — its entry into Africa and part of a plan to deploy regenerative farm inputs across key growing regions. INERA has partnered with an established Kenyan company with experience in floriculture, exotic herbs and horticulture to distribute and scale the products locally.
The initial portfolio is six products in two groups, biological nutrition management and plant physiology and climate resilience, designed to work at the plant–soil interface. They include BioMorphX, a patented biostimulant aimed at plant morphology and stress responses; Phycorise, built around pigment development, cell-wall characteristics and post-harvest performance; and the multi-strain microbial nutrients Baco L and Baco G.
Kenya will be the base for wider African expansion, with launches in East and West Africa under evaluation for the rest of 2026 and 2027 alongside growth in the United States and South-East Asia. Africa holds close to two-thirds of the world's remaining uncultivated arable land, the company notes, citing the African Development Bank, yet cereal yields averaged about 1.68 tonnes a hectare in 2024 against a world average of around 4.2. In Kenya agriculture is about 24% of GDP and some 72% of people depend on it; horticultural exports were worth KSh136.6 billion in 2024, flowers KSh72.1 billion of that and fruit KSh41 billion.
For growers serving export markets, the company argues, nutrient availability, root health, flowering, uniformity, heat and water stress, residue compliance and shelf life all decide commercial outcomes — areas where biologicals can complement conventional agronomy — while declining soil fertility and the withdrawal and review of a number of conventional pesticides in Kenya widen the opening for biological crop protection.
INERA's products come from two Absolute platforms: the Nature Intelligence Platform, a repository of microbes, biomolecules and enzymes characterised from ecosystems including glaciers, volcanic sites, mangroves and deserts, and Nature+, an AI system that predicts function and designs candidate molecules before field validation. The company says it has run more than 50,000 field trials and demonstrations across a network of over 100 acres in more than ten agro-climatic zones, and works with Olam, ADAMA, ITC, CropNxt and Jubilant among others.
