Try Chocolate Dates at Iftar

Dates stuffed with almonds and coated in dark chocolate make an easy iftar dessert for young and old.

Fruits

People of all ages love chocolate, and during the fast its flavour is easy to bring into drinks or desserts. In Ramadan we have a close bond with dates, and this familiar fruit can be made even more appealing by coating it in chocolate. Chocolate-covered dates not only taste better but look attractive too, and young and old alike will enjoy them at iftar.

Ingredients

  • Dates: 10
  • Almonds: 10
  • Dark chocolate: half a cup
  • Chopped pistachios: 2 tablespoons

Method

First slit each date lengthwise down the middle and remove the stone. Put an almond inside each one. Then put the dark chocolate in a bowl and melt it using the double-boiler method.

Dip the stuffed dates in the melted chocolate until fully coated. Arrange them on a tray lined with butter paper or foil and scatter the chopped nuts on top.

Finally, put the tray in the fridge for 15 minutes, or until the chocolate has set completely. Serve as a delicious iftar dessert.
