Crops

Shab-e-Barat is a glorious night of worship, prayer and self-purification for Muslims. On this holy occasion many homes, alongside worship, make small arrangements to receive relatives and guests. If you want a homely, healthy sweet with a different taste for your guests, chana dal halwa could be an excellent choice. Made from protein-rich split chickpeas, it is both tasty and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • Chana dal: 1 cup
  • Sugar: 1 cup
  • Ghee: half a cup
  • Milk: 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder: half a teaspoon
  • Raisins and chopped nuts: 2 tablespoons

Method

Soak the chana dal before going to bed at night. In the morning boil it well and blend it. Now put ghee in a pan, add cardamom, then add the blended dal and fry it.
