Beef skin, usually thought of as useless, can be cleaned and cooked with spices into a soft and tasty bhuna.

Livestock

Don't throw it away, because beef skin can be made into a tasty dish that, cooked properly, can become the real attraction of the dining table. We usually think of the skin as useless, but with proper preparation and the right blend of spices it becomes soft, spicy-sweet and delicious. Here is how to make a tasty dish with beef skin.

Cleaning the skin

First cut the skin into pieces and boil it in hot water for 5-10 minutes. Then scrape off the hair and the hard layer of dirt on the top with a steel spoon or blunt knife. Wash it well, cut it into small pieces, boil it again and throw away the water. The skin is now ready for cooking.

Cooking the bhuna

First heat oil in a karai and fry chopped onions until brown. Then add all the spices and fry them well. When the spices are done, add the prepared pieces of skin. Cover and fry well over low heat.

When the frying is done, add enough water to cook the skin, and cook until it is tender and the water has dried up. When the mixture turns thick and coating, add a little garam masala powder and take it off the heat. Your delicious beef skin bhuna is ready. Serve it with hot rice or roti.
