The prices of daily essentials keep rising, and checking what each item costs on a given day is hard, especially for ordinary people. You might go round a few shops comparing the prices of onions, green chillies, vegetables, fish or meat and find them all much the same. But where can you find out what these essentials actually cost today?

Now the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has launched a new mobile application called "Bazardor" to give correct, up-to-date prices of daily essentials. Through the app users can find the prices of more than a hundred products every day.

You need no longer be unsure of the correct price of essentials when you go to market. The Bazardor app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store to check daily market prices and stay informed.

The app has two main sections, "Food items" and "Others". In the food section, prices of rice, atta, maida, edible oil, sugar, salt, pulses, potatoes, spices, fish, meat, milk, eggs, vegetables and fruit will be updated daily. Prices are listed separately for five kinds of rice (fine, medium, coarse, aromatic and Kataribhog), for pulses (masur, mung and anchor) and for potatoes (Diamond, red, Holland and sweet). Spice prices cover local onions, garlic, ginger, cumin, cardamom and almost every other spice. Fish and meat include rohu, catla, hilsa, shrimp, chicken, duck, pigeon and more.

The "Others" section will update fuel prices, including LPG gas in 12 kg, 30 kg and other cylinders, diesel, kerosene, octane and petrol. The app works on Android phones and can also be used offline, so prices can be checked even without an internet connection.
