Bangladeshi hafiz who came third at Mecca's Quran contest honoured by the President

Hafiz Mahmudul Hasan Ashrafi placed third in the full-Quran memorisation category of the King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Competition in Mecca, against contestants from 133 countries; the President received him at Bangabhaban and announced land and an allocation for a home.

Hafiz Mahmudul Hasan Ashrafi of Bangladesh has come third in the 30-para (full Quran) memorisation category of the King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Competition in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, competing against contestants from 133 countries, Desh Rupantor reports.

In recognition, the President held a reception for the young hafiz at Bangabhaban on Thursday (8 October) and announced land and the necessary allocation for him to build a home.

The President praised his achievement and talent at the reception, and said he hoped the international success would inspire the country's young people in moral values and learning and in raising the country's standing abroad.

Mahmudul Hasan Ashrafi and his family thanked the President for the reception, the state recognition and the housing allocation.
