The "National Vegetable Fair 2022" begins next Monday at the Krishibid Institution (KIB) grounds in Khamarbari in the capital. The theme of the three-day fair this year is "Grow safe vegetables, for health and nutrition all year round".

Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque will open the fair as chief guest.

This year the focus is on the nutritional value and benefits of vegetables and on raising awareness of what must be done to keep them safe from production to the plate.

A steering committee meeting was held at the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon to prepare for the fair, attended by the agriculture minister.

A press release from the Ministry of Agriculture said the fair will display a range of vegetables grown in the country and vegetable production technologies.

A total of 47 organisations, 12 government and 35 private, will take part. The fair will be open to all from 9am to 8pm.
