Eurofins Agro Testing and trinamiX, a BASF subsidiary, will use the EuroTier 2026 fair in Hanover, Germany, to present a joint system that brings laboratory-style feed analysis onto the farm. It pairs trinamiX's mobile near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy with Eurofins Agro Testing's calibration models.

The case they make rests on variation. Silage and other feeds change with the weather, the timing of harvest and the ensiling method, and these often short-term changes can go unnoticed. Measuring more often, the companies say, allows better decisions and more precise ration adjustments.

The user scans a sample with the portable trinamiX PAL Two spectrometer in the field, at the silo or in the barn. The device captures the sample's near-infrared spectrum and sends it to the cloud, where it is analysed against Eurofins' models. Results appear within seconds on a smartphone and on the device's display.

The readings cover dry matter, crude protein, crude fibre, starch, sugars and energy values for various country-specific evaluation systems. The applications work for fresh forage, silage, hay, cereals, oilseeds, extraction meals and finished feed, for both livestock and horses.

The companies see feed advisers as particular beneficiaries, since they can assess quality on site with a customer and base a recommendation on the result. Data are stored automatically in a customer portal, where they can be compared and documented, and reports can be exported into farm management systems.

These are the makers' descriptions of the system. It will be shown in hall 20, booth A60, from 10 to 13 November.
