Ripe Mango Lassi, Relief in One Sip on a Tiring Afternoon

Ripe mango lassi is a quick, healthy drink that can be made at home in minutes with mango, yoghurt and cold milk.

Fruits

Ripe mango season means the sweet, golden scent of mangoes all around. At this time many people are content just to eat the fruit, while some turn mangoes into wonderful drinks. One popular and healthy drink is ripe mango lassi. On a tiring afternoon this cold drink can bring instant relief, and it can be whipped up quickly when guests arrive unexpectedly. Here is how to make ripe mango lassi easily at home.

Ingredients

  • Ripe mangoes: 2 (medium-sized)
  • Yoghurt (sour curd): 1 cup
  • Sugar: 2 tablespoons (more or less to taste)
  • Cold milk: half a cup
  • Crushed ice, as needed
  • Chopped pistachios to garnish

Method

First wash and peel the ripe mangoes, then cut them into small pieces. Put the mango pieces, yoghurt, sugar and cold milk into a blender together and blend well. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk as needed and blend again. Then add the crushed ice and blend once more until it is completely smooth. Once it is well blended, pour the lassi into serving glasses and scatter a little chopped pistachio on top. You can also garnish it with small pieces or thin slices of mango if you like.

Serving tip

The lassi is best enjoyed served chilled. For an even colder, fresher taste, you can keep it in the fridge for 15 minutes before serving. A glass of ripe mango lassi does not just quench your thirst; it makes the day more colourful.
