Four young entrepreneurs in Natore have built an integrated fish farm using modern technology, Shykh Seraj reports. In large ponds they use technology to create a river-like environment where various fish are farmed at high density.

New entrepreneurs rush to any technology that promises higher yields. Going beyond recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), biofloc or bottom-clean raceways, Ferdous Murad, Shahriar Emon and two other young entrepreneurs in Natore are now successfully using an integrated combination of modern technologies.

• Twenty ponds on 20 acres of land, with clear water.
• Various aerators are running: some create waves, while others deliver oxygen where fish feed underwater.
• The entrepreneurs say these systems are proven for high-density fish farming.

They have already achieved the success they hoped for with integrated, technology-based fish farming, and say their technology was set up with exports in mind, not just the domestic market. To sustain the country's success, they advise moving away from fish imports.
