The regional agricultural technology extension committee of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Bogura met to draw up a plan for raising farm output in the 2026-27 rabi season. DAE's Bogura region held the meeting at the Horticulture Centre in Banani on the morning of 17 October.

DAE Bogura region additional director Md Abdul Wadud was chief guest, and deputy director Sohel Md Shamsuddin Firoz chaired the meeting. Institutions presented the appropriate technologies and work they have developed, along with the crop production targets and results of the previous season.

Decisions included fertiliser recommendations based on soil tests to protect soil health, detection of adulterated fertiliser, setting up an organic fertiliser laboratory in Bogura, and use of the Khamari app. Regular market monitoring will keep chemical fertiliser and seed stocks and supply in check, with mobile courts where needed to protect fair prices and quality.

Improved spice varieties and technology will be extended to meet household demand and cut reliance on imports. Given the weather, the meeting decided to increase the use of BRRI dhan100 and the rice varieties released after it.

The meeting also discussed rabi targets for the main crops, seed requirements and likely supply from each source. It called for success stories and documentaries in the media and regular articles for the Krishikatha magazine to spread innovations to farmers.

DAE district and regional officials attended, along with BADC, the Cotton Development Board, BRRI, BINA, BJRI, BSRI, SRDI, the Spices Research Centre, the Regional Wheat and Maize Research Centre, the Agriculture Information Service, the Department of Agricultural Marketing, BARTAN, the seed association, farm machinery makers and farmer representatives.
