The season has turned. A set of pictures by Prothom Alo photographer Anis Mahmud shows the mornings and evenings of early hemanta, the late-autumn season, in villages of the Sylhet region. Here is what they show, in our own words.
At dawn a thin white mist lies over green paddy fields. The far hills are veiled in haze, with a flock of pigeons flying above them. In places the trees in the distance disappear into the fog.
A farmer walks along a field ridge to work. Two children walk down a village path. Younger children play on an empty field beside a house, and one boy heads home with a goat when the game is over.
In the last picture of the day, the sun sets on the horizon through the leaves of a banana plant, and the evening light turns the fields gold.
