Chinese farmers have no doubts about poultry feed, because the government grows stricter day by day in testing inputs made by domestic and multinational companies. Any complaint of adulteration or defects brings legal action. For acceptance among farmers, New Hope Group ranks first. What makes its feed special?

Wei Feng, manager of a New Hope poultry feed mill, said the group's feed is praised in China and many other countries because it uses high-quality pulses for protein and quality maize as the main ingredient, with minerals for calcium. Government agencies regularly test the purity of ingredients.

There are no complaints about poultry feed here and no chance to mix in heavy metals or anything unhealthy. The same rules apply in the company's hundreds of mills.

Production manager Chu Jiangtao said New Hope has feed mills in almost every Chinese city and abroad, including in Bangladesh. This mill produces 130 tonnes of feed a day and focuses more on quality than quantity. Alongside the company's own quality control, government regulators inspect once or sometimes twice a month. Prices are set with equal weight on market conditions and farmers' profit.

In the world's most populous country, per capita chicken meat availability has risen from 1.3 kg to 9 kg in 30 years, and egg production has grown at the same pace. With this huge production, the poultry input trade has expanded since the 1980s, with New Hope Group furthest ahead.
