Enjoy Chapti Pitha With Your Tea

Chapti pitha, a savoury winter rice cake, is quick to make from dry rice flour and goes well with hot tea.

Crops

Winter is not only about sweet pitha made with date palm molasses or jaggery; savoury pitha of the season are just as popular. On a cold evening, hot chapti pitha with a spicy bharta makes a colourful combination of flavours. It is easy to make with dry rice flour, and you can prepare it quickly for the whole family. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients

  • Rice flour: 1 cup
  • Chopped onion: 4 tablespoons
  • Chopped chilli: 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped coriander leaves: 2 tablespoons
  • Chopped ginger: 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder: half a teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Method

First mix all the ingredients together into a batter. Make sure the batter is neither too thick nor too thin. Then put a tawa on the stove and grease it with a little oil.

Using a round spoon, spread the batter thinly on the tawa and cover it with a lid. After a while, lift the lid, flip the chapti and cook it a little longer. Your chapti pitha is ready. Enjoy it with hot tea.
