Brazil exported 492,634 tonnes of chicken meat in August, 24.8% more than the 394,637 tonnes of August 2025, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). Revenue reached $997.9 million, up 42.7% from $699.5 million, the second-best monthly result on record behind only May of this year.

From January to August shipments totalled 3.921 million tonnes, 15.5% more than the 3.395 million tonnes of the same period of 2025, and revenue $7.689 billion, up 21.9% from $6.308 billion.

China was the leading destination in August with 50,988 tonnes — against just 83 tonnes a year earlier, when temporary suspensions followed the only outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza ever recorded in Brazilian commercial poultry, resolved in the first half of 2025. The United Arab Emirates took 44,279 tonnes (+35.9%), the European Union 42,432 tonnes (a 1,469% rise on the same suspended base), Japan 41,795 tonnes (+37.8%), Saudi Arabia 35,195 tonnes (+29.9%) and South Africa 25,590 tonnes (−0.8%).

By state, Paraná led with 200,585 tonnes (+26.4%), followed by Santa Catarina with 105,993 tonnes (+18.1%), Rio Grande do Sul 61,202 tonnes (+38.7%), São Paulo 29,531 tonnes (+20.3%) and Goiás 24,836 tonnes (+15.4%).

ABPA president Ricardo Santin said the August figures confirm the recovery of shipments and the responsiveness of the Brazilian industry, noting that part of the gains to China and the EU reflect last year's depressed base; the consistent growth over the year, he said, shows the strength of international demand and the diversification of destinations. The August figures predate the EU's suspension of Brazilian poultry imports, which took effect on 9 September.
