This year almost the entire Qurbani market was taken up by local cattle. Buyers have become aware of identifying local cattle free of any antibiotic effects, and farmers and traders have become careful. The Department of Livestock Services kept a close watch, and everyone involved hopes to finish this Qurbani with a positive trading experience.

Buyers said the sale of sacrificial animals at Eid-ul-Adha tops trade every year. The market's picture changes every year, and cattle imports are falling successfully.

The heroes behind this abundance are farmers and entrepreneurs across the country. According to the livestock ministry, 577,416 farms prepared 5 per cent more animals than needed for Qurbani this year, a trade worth 140 billion taka.

Farmers say local grain feed and green grass are the only proper food for healthy cattle; it costs more but ensures fully healthy animals. Yet farmers at the markets say that although they meet the whole population's meat needs all year, they remain uncertain of getting good prices at Eid.
