Death is an inevitable truth for everyone; there is no way to deny it or escape it. Just as death is certain and unchangeable, the hereafter is beyond doubt. But do we think about the hereafter? Are we making efforts to be at peace and happy there?
As the Quran describes, there are five kinds of people who will have no fear or apprehension of any kind in the hereafter, and no worry or anxiety will overwhelm them.
Having no fear in the hereafter means that when, after the reckoning, they are admitted to Paradise with due honour, they will be free from all fear and apprehension. No hardship or suffering will trouble them, and not even the slightest pain will hurt them, because Paradise is the abode of eternal happiness and everlasting joy. It is also true that all those who are saved from Hell and enter Paradise will enjoy endless happiness.
The five kinds of people
One: those who believe in Allah and the hereafter. Allah says: "…Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and do good deeds will have their reward with their Lord. No fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve." (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 62)
Two: those who establish prayer and pay zakat. Allah says: "Indeed, those who believe, do good deeds, establish prayer and give zakat will have their reward with their Lord. No fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve." (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 277)
Three: those who follow the teachings of Islam. Those who submit completely to Allah and live every part of their lives in the light of Islam will have no fear in the hereafter. The Holy Quran says: "Yes, whoever submits himself completely to Allah and does good will have his reward with his Lord. No fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve." (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 112)
Four: those who follow the right path. It is said: "…Whoever follows My guidance, there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve." (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 38)
Five: those whose hearts hold the fear of Allah. The God-fearing and pious will have no fear in the hereafter. Allah says: "Then whoever fears Allah and reforms himself, there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve."
