Some 35,000 marginal Aman growers in Naogaon have received government agricultural incentives worth Tk 2,55,50,000 for the current season. The agriculture department said each farmer in the district's 11 upazilas was given, free of charge and for one bigha of land, 5 kg of seed, 10 kg of DAP fertiliser and 10 kg of MOP.

Per farmer the package is 5 kg of seed worth Tk 350, 10 kg of DAP worth Tk 190 and 10 kg of MOP worth Tk 190 — Tk 730 of inputs in all, which across 35,000 farmers comes to Tk 2.555 crore.

According to the Department of Agricultural Extension's Khamarbari office in Naogaon, the Kharif-2 beneficiaries by upazila are: Naogaon Sadar 2,100; Raninagar 3,000; Atrai 1,800; Badalgachhi 2,600; Mohadevpur 5,000; Patnitala 4,100; Dhamoirhat 3,800; Sapahar 2,000; Porsha 2,500; Manda 3,000; and Niamatpur 5,100.

Md Monjur Hossain, the department's deputy director for the district, told BSS the incentive is meant to help marginal farmers grow Aman at low cost and profitably, and to encourage them to do so.
