A Dhaka regional workshop has been held under the project "Nutrition Improvement and Poverty Reduction through Expansion of Mushroom Cultivation".

The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) organised the workshop at the A.K.M. Gias Uddin Milky Auditorium on Thursday, 9 May, with the slogan "Eat mushrooms, stay healthy".

DAE Director General Badal Chandra Biswas was chief guest. Special guests were Md Tajul Islam Patwary, director of the DAE Field Service Wing; Dr KJM Abdul Awal, director of the Horticulture Wing; and Dr Surajit Saha Roy, director of the Agricultural Information Service.

Ahsanul Basar, additional director of the DAE's Dhaka region, presided.

Project director Dr Akhtar Jahan Kakon presented an overview of mushroom cultivation, and entrepreneurs' problems and successes were discussed.

Officials from district offices, upazila agriculture offices and metropolitan agriculture offices under the project attended the regional workshop, along with mushroom entrepreneurs.
