With a pledge to build a green world, Kendriya Khelaghar Asar has planted trees at Pallabi Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Adarsha Higher Secondary Vidyapith School and College in Mirpur, Dhaka.

On Monday (10 August), students and members of Pallabi's Bhabuk Khelaghar Asar planted mango, jam, jackfruit and other fruit, medicinal and timber trees on the campus.

Opening the programme, principal Md Khaleku Zaman Jewel said it is essential to build the habit of planting trees and caring for the environment from childhood, and that Khelaghar's initiative would make students more responsible towards nature.

The event was part of Khelaghar Asar's continuing environmental programme at schools across the country. Taking part were the school and college's assistant professors Md Azadur Rahman and Madhusudan Bagchi, assistant head teacher Monira Laiju, Kendriya Khelaghar Asar general secretary Pronoy Saha, Khelaghar national council member Dr Shahadat Hossain Nipu, presidium member Hannan Chowdhury, editorial board member Ashokesh Roy and Bhabuk Khelaghar Asar president Lucky Akter.

Urging students to come forward to protect the environment, the organisers said the tree planting and distribution drive would continue across the country to build a liveable world for future generations.
