The District Agricultural Technical Extension Committee (DATEC) of Joypurhat has met to draw up the work plan for the Rabi 2026-27 season. The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Khamarbari, Joypurhat, convened the meeting in the training hall at Khamarbari at 12.30 pm on 7 September, with deputy director Md Monju Alam Sarker in the chair.

The meeting reviewed and approved the work plan for the past Kharif-2 season. In the institution-by-institution discussion it was agreed that every research institute will coordinate with the upazilas in running technology demonstrations; that crops and varieties suitable for the coming Rabi season will be selected and seed supply assured; that regular market monitoring and mobile courts will keep fertiliser stocks and supply in order; and that mobile courts will also act against the sale of adulterated and substandard seed.

Soil health was on the agenda too: fertiliser is to be applied in the right doses on the basis of soil tests, samples sent to the soil research institute for fertiliser recommendations, and organic manure used with soil health in mind. The committee also decided to sign up 20 subscribers to the DAE magazine Krishikatha in every block to spread farm information and technology, and to give farmers the advice they need to protect the current Aman crop from disease and insect attack.

Additional deputy director (crops) Md Rafiul Islam conducted the meeting and read the resolution of the past Kharif-2 work plan. Besides DAE officers from the district and upazilas, the 40 present included representatives of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, BARTAN, BSRI, the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute, BINA, BJRI, the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute, the Cotton Development Board, SRDI, BADC (seed marketing), the Agricultural Information Service and the Department of Agricultural Marketing, along with farmer representatives, seed, fertiliser and pesticide dealers and NGO representatives.
