Gerbera production in polynet houses under world-standard management has started in Bangladesh. In Bhaluka, Mymensingh, a private industrial group made it possible within a year, from building the infrastructure to marketing the flowers.

Gerbera is a flower of the controlled environments of cold regions. After seeing Europe's costly and exclusive production methods, farmers in Godkhali, known as Bangladesh's flower capital, built greenhouses in their own local style. Following on from that, a local industrial group has now started gerbera production with the same kind of management in world-standard polynet houses.

This large farm grew up almost suddenly in Nishinda, a remote village of Bhaluka in Mymensingh. In two polynet houses on 12 bighas of land, 12 varieties of gerbera are already in bloom. Every part of world-standard farming practice is being followed here.

The entrepreneurs say a modern farm of this kind is a demand of the times. Local farmers and workers have joined the large farm, and although it is agriculture, they treat it with the importance of an industry.
