Garlic Gives Green Peas a Different Taste

Garlic peas, made with fresh or frozen peas, garlic and butter, are a quick side dish or light afternoon snack.

Garlic peas are a dish that can be made in a hurry in a busy life yet is full of flavour. It needs only a few ingredients, suits a side dish and also works as a light afternoon snack. The gentle bite of garlic and the aroma of butter together make an excellent taste. You can make it easily with any peas, fresh or frozen, and young and old alike will enjoy it.

Here is how to make garlic peas.

Ingredients


  • Green peas: 1 cup
  • Chopped garlic: 2 teaspoons
  • Butter or olive oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper: half a teaspoon
  • Lemon juice: 1 teaspoon

Method


Heat the butter or olive oil in a pan over a medium flame. Add the chopped garlic and fry for a few seconds until a pleasant aroma rises, then add the peas. Stir for 3-4 minutes until the peas are soft but still slightly crisp.

Sprinkle with salt and ground pepper to taste. When done, serve the garlic peas hot. They go very well as a side dish with rice, pasta or grilled chicken.
