Muslims gathering in one place, offering prayer and humbly asking Allah for something all have a special bearing on whether a supplication (dua) is accepted. Friday, too, has a special hour when Allah accepts the dua made in it. When is that hour?
What the hadith says
- Abu Huraira narrates that the Prophet (PBUH) said: "On Friday there is an hour in which, if a Muslim servant asks Allah for any good, He will certainly give it to him. And it is after Asr." (Bukhari, Musnad Ahmad)
- Jabir ibn Abdullah narrates that the Prophet said: "Friday has 12 hours. Among them is an hour in which, if a Muslim servant asks Allah for something, He will certainly give it to him. So seek it in the last hour after Asr." (Abu Dawud)
- The view of Islamic scholars is that the hour of acceptance on Friday is after Asr. (Zadul Ma'ad)
- Abu Huraira narrates that, speaking about Friday, the Prophet said: "There is a time in it when a Muslim servant stands in prayer and asks Allah for something, and He will certainly give it to him." He indicated with his hand that the time is (very) short. (Bukhari)
Believers should therefore make plenty of dua, send blessings on the Prophet (durood), recite the Quran and act on the hadith in the time between Asr and Maghrib on Friday. It is hoped that Allah will fulfil all His servants' wishes.
May Allah grant the Muslim ummah the ability to seek forgiveness, make dua and durood, and repent between Asr and Maghrib. Ameen.
