January is in its last ten days, with only seven days left in the month. The usual character of January's winter has not been seen this year. According to meteorologists, winter has lacked its true character in some places.

There have been three cold waves this month, but none turned into a severe cold wave. Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department told Jago News how the remaining seven days of the month might go.

He said there is no risk of a severe cold wave for the rest of the month. However, it will feel colder on 25, 26 and 27 January, when scattered cold waves could occur in the northern and western parts of the country. After that, temperatures could rise again from 28 January.

Asked how cold February would be, Nazmul Haque said temperatures in February are usually higher than in January. If temperatures fall at the start of the month, it could get colder; otherwise temperatures will gradually rise after the 10th.

On the forecast for tomorrow, Friday, he said there could be thick fog lasting until noon, and day and night temperatures could rise slightly.

The country's lowest temperature today was 10.7 degrees Celsius at Bagha in Rajshahi. Dhaka's minimum temperature was 13.8 degrees Celsius.
