Grow Roses from a Potato

A step-by-step photo guide shows how to grow a rose from a stem cutting planted in a potato.

It may be hard to find anyone who does not like roses. Many people, charmed by their beauty, want to grow them.

For them there is an easy method of growing roses from a potato.

First choose a green rose stem, a fresh one that will stay alive for a while.

Carefully cut the extra leaves off the stem with a knife, taking care not to damage the main stem.

Then make a hole in the potato with a knife, big enough for the rose stem to go in easily. Widen it a little if needed.

Now carefully push the rose stem into the potato, so that the stem does not bend or break.

For convenience you can also make the hole with a drill.

Next, set the potatoes in a pot.

Cut off the bottom of a plastic bottle and place the top part over the rose stem.

Wait about a week and you should see a positive result.
