The fourth spell of cold wave in the country began on Saturday. It covered two districts on the first day and later spread to six more.

On Sunday, 26 January, a mild cold wave was sweeping eight districts in the northern and western regions of the country.

The Met Office said a mild cold wave was sweeping over Rajshahi, Chuadanga, Pabna, Naogaon, Sirajganj, Dinajpur, Panchagarh and Moulvibazar districts on Sunday and could continue.

The forecast for the 24 hours from 9am on Sunday said night temperatures could fall slightly in the southern part of the country and remain nearly unchanged elsewhere. Day temperatures could fall slightly across the country.

During this time, moderate to thick fog could fall in places over the river basins from late night to morning, with light to moderate fog elsewhere in the country.

Meteorologist Afroza Sultana said the cold wave could continue on Monday, 27 January, but its reach would shrink, and the districts under the cold wave on Sunday might not have it on Monday. Temperatures could rise from Tuesday, after which there is a chance of rain in the north-east of the country.

The country's lowest temperature today was 8.6 degrees Celsius, recorded at Badalgachhi in Naogaon. Dhaka's minimum temperature was 13.6 degrees Celsius.
