The California Department of Food and Agriculture has expanded the huanglongbing (citrus greening) disease boundary in the Murrieta area of Riverside County and into San Diego County — grids 484, 499 and 510 — effective 11 September 2026, California Ag Network reports from a CDFA notice.

Also effective 11 September, the department enlarged the Asian citrus psyllid bulk-citrus Regional Quarantine Zone 6 in the same areas to reflect the new HLB boundary. Maps of both expanded boundaries are published on CDFA's citrus pests and diseases pages.

Regulated articles and the conditions for their movement within the state are set out in Title 3 of the California Code of Regulations, sections 3435 and 3439, under which any interested party or local entity may appeal a quarantine designation.

An appeal must be made to the department in writing, supported by clear and convincing evidence, within ten working days of the notification; while an appeal is pending the designated boundary stays in force.

Interested parties can register for electronic notice of boundary changes and appeal opportunities through CDFA's subscription service, and questions on the regulations or maps go to the department's citrus division in Sacramento.
