Police in Bhola have detained a young man, Md Kalam alias Kalu (28), with the meat of a slaughtered deer.

Kalam is the son of Md Gedu Mia of Ishwarganj village in ward 8 of Monpura union, Monpura upazila, Bhola.

Monpura police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Sayeed Ahmed confirmed the incident at a press briefing on Tuesday (30 May) afternoon.

He said Kalam was detained at around midnight on Monday on a road next to the fire service office in Monpura upazila, acting on a tip-off, with 15 kg of deer meat in a sack. Two others who were with him fled when they sensed police were present, and efforts are under way to catch them.

The OC said that during initial questioning Kalam admitted bringing the meat from the Janglar Char area. A case has been filed against him.
