The Forest Department has rescued two deer fawns that were washed in by the tide as the Meghna river in Bhola rose under the influence of Cyclone Yaas. The two rescued fawns have been treated and are now well.

A Forest Department team spotted the two deer in a keora forest in the Kalkini (Char Nizam) area of Monpura around noon on Thursday (May 27), rescued them and brought them to the office.

They will be released into the forest on Saturday afternoon (May 29), said SM Amir Hamza, beat officer for Kalkini (Char Nizam) in Monpura.

He told Jago News that the tide swelled the river and the water entered the keora forest in Kalkini (Char Nizam), and the two deer were washed in with it.

"Our keora forest patrol team spotted and rescued the two deer around noon on Thursday. We then treated the two fawns and nursed them back to health," he said.

He said the male deer among those rescued was about five months old and the other, a barking deer, about eight months old.
