The forest department has rescued a spotted deer that came into a village in Bhola seeking safety after tidal water entered the forest. It was released back into the forest after treatment.

The deer was rescued on Saturday, 19 April, from in front of Azahar Majhi's house in the Alam Bazar area of North Sakuchia union in Monpura upazila.

Range officer Md Rashedul Hasan said local people saw the spotted deer in front of the house at around 7am on Saturday and informed the forest department. "We rescued the deer, took it to the forest department office and gave it first aid. Then at around 11am we released it into the Char Pataliya reserved forest in Monpura," he said.

He added: "We think the deer ran into the village for safety because tidal water entered its forest habitat in the Alam Bazar area. The deer had no problems, however."
