A programme to plant fruit, timber and medicinal saplings has been launched in Bhola. The Coast Guard South Zone began planting 2,000 trees on Thursday (8 June).

Captain Mohammad Shahidul Haque, zonal commander of the Coast Guard South Zone, said more trees must be planted in coastal areas to cope with natural disasters and keep the environment in balance.

He added that, to carry out the programme, the Coast Guard South Zone will plant saplings of various fruit, timber and medicinal trees over a month at its stations, outposts, coastal installations and surrounding areas.
