Heavy rain and water flowing down from upstream have caused flooding in various parts of the country, and low-lying riverside areas elsewhere may also be flooded. Over the next 24 to 48 hours, flooding may persist in low-lying areas along the Sangu, Matamuhuri and other rivers in Bandarban, Chattogram and Cox's Bazar districts.

The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre gave the information in its bulletin on river conditions and forecasts on Thursday, 9 July.

Short-term flooding may develop in some low-lying areas along the Gumti, Muhuri, Feni, Selonia and Halda rivers in Feni, Chattogram and Khagrachhari districts. Low-lying riverside areas in Lakshmipur and Noakhali may be temporarily inundated in places.

The centre said flooding may remain stable over the next 24 to 48 hours in low-lying areas along the Manu, Dhalai, Khowai and other rivers in Moulvibazar and Habiganj. Short-term flooding may develop in places along the Sarigowain, Someshwari, Jadukata and Bhugai-Kangsha rivers in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona, Sherpur and Mymensingh.

Over the next three days, the Surma and Kushiyara may rise fast, causing short-term flooding, or worsening it, in some low-lying riverside areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj, the centre said.

The Teesta may flow above the danger level at some points in Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Rangpur over the next 24 to 48 hours, bringing short-term flooding to some low-lying riverside areas.

Over the next 72 hours, the Dharla and Dudhkumar in Lalmonirhat and Kurigram may flow at the warning level, temporarily inundating low-lying areas along their banks in places.
