AGCO is demonstrating autonomy, artificial intelligence and connections between machines of different brands at its annual Tech Day at Stewart Farms near Yorkville, outside Chicago, during the autumn harvest, Precision Farming Dealer reported. The company says the technologies are meant to raise productivity, efficiency and profit across the crop cycle.
"Farmers judge technology by what it returns, not by what it promises," said Eric Hansotia, AGCO's chairman, president and chief executive.
The harvest demonstration addresses labour. Harvest, grain handling, fertiliser application and tillage all fall into the same six-to-eight-week window, so a Fendt IDEAL combine works alongside OutRun, the retrofit autonomy system from AGCO's PTx precision business, which runs tillage and autonomous grain carts in the field, while a Fendt Rogator applies next year's fertiliser behind the harvest so nutrients are worked in before runoff losses can occur. AGCO's pitch is that more jobs get done on schedule with the crew a farmer actually has.
For weed control, the Fendt Rogator 900 is fitted with AI-enabled SymphonyVision, which targets only weeds, with the aim of cutting chemical use. On the data side, PTx Farm ENGAGE links mixed fleets on one digital platform, the Panorama platform turns machine and agronomic data into recommendations, and Aurora, an AI assistant inside Panorama, lets farmers ask for maps, reports and insights by voice or text. Momentum planters with ArrowTube are shown for more even seed placement.
AGCO says its PTx products are built to work across brands, sold through specialised PTx dealers, AGCO machine dealers and partner manufacturers as retrofit or factory-fit kits, so that farmers can add technology to equipment they already own. Its FarmerCore service model adds over-the-air updates, remote diagnostics and more on-farm support to reduce downtime.
The performance figures behind these claims were not given in the release; the company was due to present its strategy and a review of its precision agriculture business to investors on 6 October.
