ADAMA launches Rexaro fungicide in India against downy mildew and late blight

The product pairs fluopicolide and cymoxanil for grapes, potatoes and vegetables, and ADAMA says it will also be launched in Ghana for cacao.

ADAMA Ltd. has launched Rexaro, a foliar fungicide for grapes, potatoes and vegetables, in India, Global Agriculture reports. It combines two active ingredients, fluopicolide 17.54% w/w and cymoxanil 21.05% w/w, as a suspension concentrate.

The two ingredients act in different ways against oomycetes, the water-mould pathogens behind downy mildew and late blight. ADAMA says the mix gives preventive protection and early curative action, which lets growers fit it into disease programmes at different points.

According to the company, field trials in India showed it worked against downy mildew in grapes and cucumber and late blight in potatoes. ADAMA also claims activity against tomato root rot, downy mildew in brassicas and diseases of onion.

The liquid formulation uses ADAMA's Ayalon technology, which the company says helps the product spread and pass through the leaf cuticle, resists wash-off by rain and mixes well in the spray tank.

"Oomycete diseases can spread rapidly and significantly impact the quality and value of specialty crops," said Jean Zonato, ADAMA's head of global fungicides, adding that growers need products that work reliably in real field conditions.

After India, ADAMA plans to launch Rexaro in Ghana for use on cacao. The trial results and claims above are the company's own.
