In the fourth episode of his report from Asia's largest agricultural machinery exhibition, held in Wuhan, China, in 2023, Shykh Seraj turns to an activity taking place outside the main halls.

Next to the gate leading into the centre of the fair, in an open space, something different is going on. While the other stalls display finished machines, here the builders of tomorrow are making the machines of the future.

To keep future dreams big and thinking broad, the seeds of those dreams must be sown among the young. With that understanding, China is involving young people in every activity to modernise the development of farm machinery. The competition held at the fair every year, in which students build agricultural machines, bears witness to this.

Each group comes from a different university in a different province of China, but they share one goal: turning an idea into reality. Ling Wang, associate professor at China Agricultural University, explained the details of this year's competition.
