• Seven dead in India before 'Biparjoy' arrives: Extremely severe cyclone Biparjoy is still two days from making landfall, but at least seven people have already died in India from its effects. To prevent more deaths, authorities in India and Pakistan are evacuating millions of people from coastal areas.
• Mangoes sent by Sheikh Hasina reach Mamata's home: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have always had good relations and often send each other gifts. Every year the prime minister sends mangoes to her 'younger sister' Mamata, and this year's mangoes have already reached her.
• Pakistan pays for Russian oil in Chinese currency, calls imports 'profitable': Pakistan is paying in Chinese yuan for discounted crude oil bought from Russia. Pakistan's petroleum minister said refining and using Russian oil imported this way was profitable.
• Ukraine dam collapse will hit global food security heavily, says UN: The collapse of Ukraine's Nova Kakhovka dam has caused severe flooding, with the Dnipro river overflowing and inundating several areas. The UN fears the collapse of the Soviet-era dam will have a major impact on global food security.
• Most people in the world support Russia, says US journalist: More than half the world's people support Russia, not the United States, over the Ukraine war, and US influence internationally is steadily declining as support for Russia grows, famous US journalist Seymour Hersh, 86, said in an interview with British politician and journalist George Galloway on Sunday, 11 June.
• Earthquake shakes India and Pakistan again: India and Pakistan were shaken by an earthquake for the second time in two weeks. The quake, of magnitude 5.6, struck various parts of both countries on Tuesday afternoon local time, 13 June. Various Indian media reported the magnitude as 5.4.
• US military helicopter crashes in Syria, 22 troops injured: A US military helicopter had an accident in Syria on Monday night local time, injuring 22 troops. US Central Command confirmed that the helicopter had not come under any attack.
• Biden postpones meeting with NATO chief over toothache: US President Joe Biden suddenly developed a toothache on Sunday and had a root canal on Monday, 12 June, a White House spokesperson said. Biden postponed all of Monday's engagements as a result.
• Chechen forces sign agreement with Russia: Chechen forces led by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov signed an agreement with Russia on Monday, 12 June, between the Russian defence ministry and Chechen leaders. It was signed as part of a new Russian law to control mercenary forces fighting for Moscow in Ukraine. The Wagner mercenary group has not signed it.
• Two pilots in trouble for seating a friend in the cockpit: A month ago Air India took action against a pilot for seating his female friend in the cockpit. Last week the same thing happened again on a Delhi–Leh flight, when a woman was again invited into the cockpit, and Air India has taken action against two pilots.
