Environment

Today, 28 July, is World Nature Conservation Day. It is observed around the world to remind people of the importance of protecting and conserving nature. Countries, agencies and organisations observe the day to strengthen people's responsibility towards the environment, biodiversity and natural resources.

World Nature Conservation Day is observed every 28 July. Its main aim is to remind humanity of the need to protect nature and to encourage environmentally friendly ways of living.

The theme of World Nature Conservation Day 2025 stresses the urgent need to promote global cooperation to protect biodiversity, restore degraded ecosystems and secure a sustainable future.

Alamgir Kabir, general secretary of Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), told Jago News that the country's living nature is disappearing day by day, and in Dhaka nature is vanishing through urbanisation. He said nature must be protected by law, and beyond that the government and people must care for it. Even so, on days like this the enthusiasm for tree planting, cleaning rivers, conserving biodiversity and education must be spread.
