High above the ground, each corner of this roof is surrounded by a different kind of greenery, all of it planned. Arif Abdullah and Shirin Sultana have planted every tree with care, nurturing their deep love of plants in this way for 25 years.
Mostly food plants
Most of the plants are vegetables and fruit, with some flowers, ornamentals and medicinal plants. It is mainly Shirin Sultana's dream rooftop farm.
Winning over the neighbours
Building a rooftop farm with the participation of everyone in a city apartment block is still quite hard. Some succeed, while enthusiasts in many buildings face problems. The couple managed to persuade the 10 families in their building, a good example.
The farm has become a place of recreation for everyone in the building. It meets both hobby and need, and the couple walk daily among the greenery to recharge amid city life.
