During this year's breeding season, 1,773 turtle hatchlings have been released into the sea from the beaches of the Ukhiya and Teknaf coasts in Cox's Bazar over the past two and a half months.
Shithal Kumar Nath, project director of CODEC's Nature and Life project, gave the figures.
He said that, as every year, 12,365 eggs had been collected and conserved over the past two and a half months from 105 turtle nests at the five hatcheries of the Nature and Life project on the Ukhiya and Teknaf beaches. Alongside this, 1,773 hatchlings had been released into the sea.
He added that the collection of eggs and the release of hatchlings are still under way.
