A young woman in college has started an agritourism venture. Inside the capital, she has built a restaurant wrapped in the beauty of foreign flowers alongside local heritage, and she dreams of taking the commercial venture far.
A village inside Dhaka
Although urbanisation is spreading fast, a village still survives at Beraid in Badda thana, Dhaka. There, on the bank of the Balu river, a tall, ornately carved house modelled on Munshiganj's traditional wooden houses has been built and wrapped in foreign flowers. This small paradise named "Thikana" began from a dream the college student saw on YouTube.
Built through the pandemic
Dreamed before the coronavirus, it was built over several months during the pandemic and opened in August for people seeking recreation. Besides a cafe and other entertainment, it has a commercial collection of the foreign flower petunia, with more plans in preparation.
