In Bhuapur upazila of Tangail, the local Bibartan Club has hung clay pots in trees for birds. The volunteer organisation is working to set up safe artificial homes to protect birds from natural disasters. The pots have been placed in several villages of Nikrail union.

Imran Pradhan Robin, founder of Bibartan Club, took up the initiative to protect biodiversity. Members of the organisation and villagers are helping him hang the pots in trees to create safe homes for birds.

Small holes are drilled in the pots so that any rainwater that gets in can drain out. Each pot also has two large openings on opposite sides, so a bird can enter from one side and leave by the other. Around 100 pots have been placed in trees at Nikrail Bazar and nearby villages.

Imran Pradhan Robin said: "This will protect birds from storms, rain and sun. Pots will be placed in about a thousand trees in the village. The birds will be protected and will be able to nest in the pots and breed."
