City dwellers may have been forgetting the role of trees in keeping nature in balance, but abnormal rises in temperature over the past few years have shown urban residents what the lack of greenery means. With that in mind, TAD Group has launched a campaign called "Go Green and Save Energy".

Out of social responsibility, TAD Group runs various corporate programmes throughout the year, and as part of this it organised the "Go Green and Save Energy" campaign.

The campaign began with the gift of trees to 200 of the company's employees, encouraging everyone to plant trees and care for them.

Shyamoli Sultana placed particular emphasis on the use of electricity, asking everyone to use it sparingly. The move to save electricity by making more use of daylight across the office is commendable.

TAD Group is continuing the campaign in 72 ready-made garment factories. It is working on the use of solar panels to save electricity in the factories, unplugging electrical devices after use and making the most of daylight instead of electric light.

Managing director Ashikur Rahman Tuhin said: "Keeping nature in balance is our responsibility. With the way trees are being cut, things could get worse in future. We also need to stop wasting electricity. Our campaign for planting trees and saving electricity comes from this social responsibility."
