The forest department has rescued two pythons from areas bordering the forest in the Sundarbans' Sarankhola range. The snakes were 10 and 17 feet long.

At midday on Friday, 2 July, the 10-foot python was caught in a local fisherman's net set in front of the Pahlan house in Sarankhola. Later in the afternoon, another python, 17 feet long, was rescued from the Ulubunia area of Mathbaria upazila in neighbouring Pirojpur district.

Md Joynal Abedin, assistant conservator of forests for the Sundarbans' Sarankhola range, said the two pythons, rescued separately, were released on Friday afternoon into the Sundarbans near Sarankhola's Bogi station.
