A control room has been opened in Sunamganj district to deal with disasters and reduce the risk of flash floods. The district administration confirmed this from its official account on Saturday night (25 April).

According to the weather forecast, heavy rain is likely in Sunamganj, which could create a flood situation and damage the paddy that haor farmers have worked hard to grow. The control room was opened on Saturday night, and people have been asked to call 02998842096 or 01730331091 for any need.

Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner Minhajur Rahman said the district administration was ready to face any disaster, and a control room had been opened that night.

According to the Sunamganj agriculture department, paddy has been grown on 223,511 hectares in the district this season, against a target of 223,505 hectares. The district is expected to produce about 14 lakh tonnes of paddy, with a market value of Tk 5,000 crore.
