The Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation has rescued a python from the home of a man named Zubayer Ahmed in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar.

The snake was rescued from the house in the North Bharaura area of Sreemangal at midday on Thursday, 16 July.

According to local sources, ducks and chickens had been going missing from Zubayer Ahmed's house regularly, but nobody knew why. That morning the python was seen moving from the top of the house's wall towards a nearby tree. On hearing the news, members of the Bangladesh Wildlife Service Foundation rescued the snake.

The python is believed to have been eating the household's ducks and chickens. After the rescue, it was handed over to the Sreemangal forest range office.

Sreemangal forest range officer Md Nazmul Islam confirmed the matter and said the snake would be released into the forest.
